This is a great Dipole antenna, tunes easy, talks great and the 600 ohm ladder line feed is a fantastic balanced feedline . This wireline also handels full power with no problem. Great craftsmanship went into making this antenna.

    Works Great When Wet

Posted by chris g tucker on 27th Sep 2016

I ordered a 100 foot flat top with 50 feet of open wire line. I use a 4 to 1 balun and 15 feet of coax to my shack. It honestly does not work as good as the G5RV that it replaced. It is harder to load and tune it then the G5RV was, and my signal is no better, or worse. However, rain does not effect it like the G5RV was effected! These wonderful people need to make a G5RV out of the open wire feed line, and they will own the market. I only use this antenna for 80 and 40 meters. ***WB2JIX COMMENT*** Here's the problem. Chris was trying to recreate a G5RV without a complete understanding of the mechanics of this type of antenna. I wish he would have contacted me to get this right. A G5RV only seems to "work" well because of the loss in the coax-feed, which can be significant. With an open wire fed doublet, we don't want the lossy coax "matching" section. The operation is far superior to any G5RV, IF done properly. This can be a lesson for everyone to learn from. CALL ME!!!! I'll talk you out of trying to make it into something it's not. When there are thousands of this same antenna in use all over the world with stellar reports, there's no need to change a thing. Use it as it was intended to be used. Hey, I won't argue with 4 stars though! Brian/WB2JIX
